About What are some good apartments in Sacramento

What are some good apartments in Sacramento?
I'm moving to Sacramento for work and looking for QUALITY, safe, semi-luxurious apartments and/or condos. The closer to Capitol Park the better =) Price Range: up to $800/month Looking for 1 or 2 bedroom only. Area: Arcade, Carmichael, Arden, Fair Oaks, Rancho Cordova, Citrus Heights, Orangevale, Rosemont, Florin, Elk Grove and any other places I may have overlooked near midtown. If you live in or know of some really nice apartments in these areas and price range, I would really appreciate some local insight. Thank you!

I cant speak from experience since I have only rented apartments in Davis. My GF and I are looking into duplexes and houses right now. here is a site where people rate apartments so you can get some idea of what your looking at http://www.apartmentratings.com/ Try craigslist for what open at this time or Sac Bee (sacbee.com) CH, Carmichael/Fairoaks are all pretty decent I would stay our of Elk Grove, Florin, and Rosemont, there are some pretty ghetto areas. I think EG, Orangevale, RC and Florin are getting a little far out from midtown also.

If your work is located in Downtown/Midtown like the EVERYONE else...you want to stay centrally located. The freeway traffic in Sacramento is HORRENDOUS. Rent prices are pretty pricely throughout the Sacramento region, but you will find some really nice apartment living in Midtown and the East Sacramento area. Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova, Citrus Heights will all be traffic headaches. Florin & Arcade are definitely NOT good places to live. Parts of Rosemont or OK. Orangevale, Fair Oaks & Arden are all pretty nice but not really centrally located either. The newer Natomas area is nice, probably pricey also. That is the area of Sacramento 95833, 95834 & 95835. Try some of the local property management companies: River City P.M. 916-443-7307, HomePointe 916- 429-1205, Delta (916) 395-7703, M&M 916-923-6181. Good Luck and Welcome to Sacramento.

This website has a good list of apartments. All of the listed apartments have websites, so you can see exactly what they offer. http://sacramento.cityzero.net/apartments.html

You'll have a hard time finding a nice two bedroom in midtown or downtown for under $800 a month. A one bedroom shouldn't be a problem, but don't expect it to be even semi-luxurious. I pay $725 for a decent one BR in midtown. If having most places you want to go within walking distance is important to you, don't live in any of those other areas of Sacramento. I have lived all over Sac, and as long as I'm renting I will never live anywhere but downtown. Warning though--get a place with a garage for your car, or lock it up like Fort Knox because auto theft downtown is ridiculous. Search on craigslist or rentclicks.com for apartments. Some people also like to park their car and just walk around looking at places with for rent signs because a lot of them aren't advertised. If you see something you like, call the number on the spot. Good luck!
