Where can I find a job in the Sacramento area working with babies/infants? w/o needing to be a nurse or degre?
I only have an associates degree but I would love to have a job working with babies/infants. I was considering volunteering at a hospital to be a "baby cuddler", but i'd really like something that's financially rewarding as well. I live in Sacramento and would love suggestions. I don't desire to be a mother but I love nurturing! Thanks in advance!

About Can I write off gas mileage for work in California? Please see my details
Can I write off gas mileage for work in California? Please see my details...?
I work for a grocery store, I don't deliver or drive for a living I just happen to drive 90 miles each way to work and pay toll 3-5 days a week. I live in Sacramento and work in the Bay area. Not sure if I can write this off on taxes, if so any easy to understand tax info or links would be HIGHLY appreciated.

No, it is your choice to live this far away. If it was mileage for your job that you were not paid for it is ok, but not to and from your job

don't think you can. you chose where you work and you chose where you live. the mileage driven and tolls paid are part of the life style you chose. don't like the drive or the tolls - change where you work or where you live

No, you can't. You can only write off mileage if you are an independent contractor, which you aren't. I suggest you find a job closer to home, or consider commuting via Capitol Corridor. Driving that far for a job in a grocery store is absurd. My guess is that you spend about 80% of your income on commuting costs, which makes no sense.

About Where can I learn to work with wood/repair furniture in Sacramento, CA
Where can I learn to work with wood/repair furniture in Sacramento, CA?
I'm interested in repairing furniture and/or doing DIY projects from found furniture at thrift stores, antique shops, etc, but I've never worked with wood before and I'd like to take some classes to at least get comfortable with the materials/tools involved.

Sacramento is a wonderful place for military reunions. It had such an important WW II history (as recently described in the PBS series "The War"), and only fairly recently lost its major military bases to privatization. I do not have inside knowledge of how you would get a reunion started, but here are some ideas: Work with local veterans' organizations. Go to KVIE.org (local PBS channel) and find information about local veterans covered in the "War" series. Try to contact them to find out about what veterans they are in touch with. Check with military and veterans' web sites. They might have help. Thanks for wanting to support veterans!
